We are proud to announce that Facundo Biffi, an outstanding student at UBI Business School, has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious BGA Student of the Year Award 2026. Facundo currently serves as Chief of Cabinet at the Treasury in Mendoza, Argentina. A senior government official and visionary leader, he has consistently integrated his MBA learning from UBI into impactful initiatives that uplift both public institutions and underserved communities.

Driving Social Impact Through Education

Facundo’s work exemplifies the power of education to drive social change. Among his most notable achievements is the establishment of a strategic partnership between UBI Business School and ProMendoza, a regional economic development agency. This collaboration has provided over 15 public officials and business leaders with access to UBI’s MBA, significantly enhancing institutional capacity and promoting a culture of continuous professional development in both the public and private sectors. Facundo also played a key role in securing an agreement with the Fundación Bolsa de Comercio, aimed at expanding undergraduate education opportunities for socioeconomically disadvantaged students. Through UBI’s HyFlex model, this programme delivers high-quality, flexible learning to those who might otherwise be excluded from higher education. These initiatives have not only opened doors for students facing socioeconomic barriers but have also brought advanced knowledge and training to local businesses and public institutions.

Academic Contributions and Leadership

Facundo has made a lasting contribution to the development of UBI’s academic programmes. As a proactive and insightful student, he provided valuable feedback during the design and implementation of the HyFlex model, ensuring it met the needs of working professionals across diverse global contexts. His input, grounded in his experience in public administration and regional development, helped shape a more inclusive and adaptable learning environment.

He also contributed to the evolution of UBI’s MBA curriculum, relaunched in September 2025, advocating for a more practical, impact-driven approach that aligns academic content with real-world challenges. His influence has helped reinforce the importance of ethical leadership, innovation, and social responsibility in business education.

A Role Model and Ambassador

Facundo is not only admired for his professional achievements but also deeply respected by his peers and faculty. Currently enrolled in one of UBI’s Professional Postgraduate Certificates, he continues to embody the values of integrity, inclusion, and long-term societal impact. His journey is a powerful example of how education can empower individuals to become catalysts for meaningful change.

We also extend our congratulations to the other exceptional students and business schools selected as finalists this year. Their accomplishments reflect the global talent, leadership potential, and commitment to positive impact that define the AMBA/BGA community.

At UBI Business School, we are honoured to celebrate Facundo’s recognition. His story is a testament to the transformative power of education—and to the role our students play in shaping the future of business, governance, and community development.

UBI Business School has been shortlisted in four categories at the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards 2026. This recognition reflects the School’s sustained focus on academic quality, innovation and impact within global business education.

The AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards recognise business schools and individuals that advance management education worldwide. Against this backdrop, UBI Business School’s multiple shortlists demonstrate its strategic priorities in flexible learning, digital innovation, industry engagement and student development.

Recognition Across Four Award Categories

  • Best Lifelong Learning Initiative

UBI Business School earned recognition for Best Lifelong Learning Initiative through its HyFlex learning model and modular postgraduate certificates. This approach enables professionals from more than 45 countries to access British-accredited education without leaving their jobs or relocating.

The model attracts participants from a broad international base, including professionals in developing regions. By aligning programmes with current business priorities such as AI, sustainability and digital business, UBI supports continuous skills development. This approach has been recognised by QS and EFMD, confirming its quality and relevance.

  • Best Business School Partnership

In addition, UBI Business School was shortlisted for Best Business School Partnership through its collaboration with Publicis Commerce. A key outcome of this collaboration is Alexandria, UBI’s advanced artificial intelligence learning platform, developed jointly with Publicis. Alexandria supports individual learning progress while remaining aligned with academic standards. It also reflects current industry practice. Through this partnership, students develop applied digital skills alongside analytical and strategic capabilities relevant to contemporary business environments.

  • Best Digital Transformation

UBI Business School also received recognition for Best Digital Transformation, driven by a digital strategy centred on access, inclusion and educational impact rather than technology alone.

Through its HyFlex model, students from more than 45 countries take part in the same classes, either on campus or online. Teaching is delivered across multiple locations, including Brussels, Madrid or Guatemala, enabling real-time interaction within a single learning environment supported by hybrid classrooms and digital learning systems.

UBI’s HyFlex delivery holds EFMD EOCCS certification, which validates the quality and consistency of its online and blended programme design. This approach supports comparable learning outcomes across delivery modes while widening access to internationally relevant business education.

  • BGA Student of the Year

In the individual awards categories, Facundo Biffi represents UBI Business School as a nominee for BGA Student of the Year 2026.

Facundo applies his MBA learning directly to public service as a senior government official in Mendoza. His initiatives strengthen public institutions, build international academic partnerships and expand access to higher education for disadvantaged communities through UBI’s HyFlex delivery. His leadership reflects the values of responsible management and societal impact central to AMBA, BGA and UBI.

Sustaining Excellence and Impact

Being shortlisted in four categories at the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards 2026 reinforces UBI Business School’s position as an institution committed to relevance, innovation and academic excellence.

Looking ahead, the School remains focused on delivering high-quality programmes, strengthening industry partnerships and maintaining a student-centred approach to business education.

At the AMBA & BGA Asia Pacific Deans and Directors Conference in Bali, UBI Business School was honoured to partner with AMBA & BGA to co-host a roundtable on one of the most urgent topics in higher education today: “Always Learning: Redefining Business Education with AI.”

This global conversation brought together business school leaders from across continents to reflect on how AI is reshaping business education. It also explored how institutions can evolve while preserving the human essence of teaching, mentorship, and community.

Representing UBI, Prof. Gaston Fornes, Dean of UBI, and Desmond Yap, Deputy Managing Director of UBI, contributed insights grounded in our school’s long-standing commitment to responsible, tech-enabled, globally minded education.

🔍 Key themes that emerged:

  • AI across the full learning journey
From helping students become “classroom-ready,” to supporting complex decision-making, to personalising career pathways.
  • Governance, trust, and strategy
Participants underscored the need for clear institutional AI policies, shared practices, and trust-building between students and faculty. Accreditation bodies increasingly expect schools to align AI with mission, strategy, and societal impact.
  • Faculty at the forefront of transformation
Mindset shifts, digital literacy, and overcoming fear or uncertainty remain central. Faculty readiness continues to be one of the main barriers — and opportunities — in AI adoption.
  • Rethinking pedagogy and assessment
AI pushes schools to revisit authenticity, originality, and evaluation frameworks. The distinction betweenAI courses and AI-supported courses is becoming crucial.
  • AI as a driver of inclusion and global learning
From language support to personalised learning, AI creates opportunities to level access while requiring thoughtful attention to ethics, culture, and context.

🌐 Alexandria

UBI shared developments from Alexandria, our AI-powered learning copilot built with Publicis Groupe — recently featured in a Business Impact article for its pioneering work in personalised and hybrid learning, and shortlisted for the AMBA-BGA Excellence Awards 2026. Alexandria reflects UBI’s belief in continuous learning, mission-aligned innovation, and student-centred design.

A warm thank you to AMBA & BGA and to all participating schools for an open, forward-looking discussion.

The future of business education will not be defined by AI alone — but by how we, as educators, choose to integrate it with wisdom, humanity, and purpose.

Recently, at UBI we had the honor of welcoming Virginia Wangoui and Brian, the passionate founders of Tuko Pamoja as part of our UBI Citizen Initiative, an NGO whose name means “We are together” in Swahili. Their visit was more than a meeting, it was an opportunity to learn firsthand about the incredible work they are doing to transform lives in Kenya.

As part of our UBI Citizen Conversations series, their visit helped us connect their mission directly with the values and purpose of the UBI Citizen Initiative.

In the heart of Kenya, where breathtaking landscapes meet harsh realities, there are stories that deserve to be told. Stories of girls who dream of going to school, mothers fighting to feed their children, and communities struggling against practices like female genital mutilation and early marriages. Amid these challenges stands Tuko Pamoja, and they live up to their name every single day.

Virginia and Brian share a clear vision: to give children and women the chance to live with dignity. Their work begins with the basics – education. Through child sponsorship programs, Tuko Pamoja covers school fees, uniforms, and family support, ensuring every child has a real opportunity to learn. But their mission goes further: they create safe spaces for girls at risk and have built a shelter to protect them.

In Maasai communities, where many households are led by single mothers, Tuko Pamoja supports small businesses like beadwork, helping women sustain their families. Every beaded necklace is not just a piece of art – it’s a symbol of resilience.

Food security is also part of this fight. What started as a simple gesture, providing porridge to 560 children in one school, now reaches over 2,000 students across six schools. This initiative has changed lives: more children attend classes, and teenage pregnancy rates have dropped.

And when violence threatens, Tuko Pamoja responds with empowerment. Since 2019, more than 4,300 women and girls have learned self-defense skills, reclaiming confidence and safety. One woman even defended herself against her husband thanks to these classes: a powerful reminder of what education and courage can achieve.

Every project, from shoe drives to building a bedroom for a vulnerable family, reflects the commitment of a team that believes in social transformation. For Tuko Pamoja, hope is not just an idea – it’s action.

At UBI, this collaboration forms an important part of the UBI Citizen Initiative, which aims to connect students with meaningful impact opportunities and bring our G.R.E.A.T. values to life. Through this partnership, students will have pathways to engage in SDG-related work, learn through real-world challenges, and contribute to positive social change.

Artificial intelligence is no longer just a buzzword in retail—it’s the backbone of the industry’s transformation. What once seemed like experimental pilots run by tech giants has become the new standard for competitive advantage. From personalised product recommendations on shopping sites to demand forecasting across supply chains, AI is now embedded in every link of the retail value chain. The adoption curve speaks for itself: 85% of retail executives worldwide already use AI solutions, and nearly 90% plan to expand their investments in the next two years. The message is clear—AI is no longer a “nice-to-have,” it’s a strategic necessity for survival and growth.

But the AI revolution isn’t just about smarter systems; it’s also about smarter people. Companies today are searching for full hybrid talent—professionals who speak both the language of marketing creativity, the logic of data science and the full potential of AI applied to their companies and sectors. Yet, a skills gap persists: many businesses still struggle to find experts who can bridge business, technology and strategy. This is where the future of marketing lies: in developing hybrid skill sets that blend technical know-how with critical, creative thinking.

The transformation is visible from supply chains to storefronts. On the customer side, AI-powered recommendation engines curate hyper-personalised shopping journeys, while conversational shopping agents help consumers discover products as naturally as chatting with a friend. On the back end, AI predicts demand, optimises inventory, and streamlines logistics—minimising stock-outs and inefficiencies. Meanwhile, marketing teams are harnessing generative AI to craft product descriptions, ads, and creative campaigns at lightning speed, allowing rapid testing and refinement.

The result? A retail world that is more efficient, more personalised, and more data-driven than ever before—a landscape where AI isn’t just powering transactions, but reshaping relationships between brands and consumers. At UBI Business School, we believe this convergence of technology, talent, and strategy defines the future of retail—and those prepared to embrace it will set the pace for the decade ahead.

AI in E-Commerce & Retail Marketing at UBI – Programmes for Future Leaders

The retail and e-commerce industries are undergoing rapid transformation, driven by artificial intelligence (AI). At UBI Business School, we believe the future will belong to leaders who can connect technology with strategic insight and human creativity. To prepare these future leaders, UBI has launched two specialised learning pathways: a full Master’s degree and a shorter Postgraduate Certificate. Both are designed to help professionals not just adapt to change, but actively drive it.

Master’s in Management of AI in E-Commerce & Retail Marketing (MSc)

UBI’s one-year Master’s programme of Management of AI in E-Commerce and Retail Marketing (available in Brussels or fully online) is a comprehensive journey into the application of AI in modern commerce. Delivered through UBI’s flexible HyFlex model, the programme blends on-campus and remote learning to fit diverse professional needs.

The curriculum combines technical foundations (AI, data analytics, digital tools) with business and marketing strategy, and is enriched by real-world projects with companies. This ensures that learning remains practical, relevant, and closely tied to industry challenges. We combine Retail academic experts with practitioners experienced in working with global retail leaders, including Amazon, Walmart, Tesco, Carrefour, and many more. Also, collaboration with Publicis Commerce allows us to include the latest innovations from the leading commerce specialist.

Graduate outcomes include roles such as:

  • Trade Marketing Manager
  • Key Account Manager
  • AI-driven marketing strategist
  • E-commerce manager
  • Digital transformation manager

Professional Postgraduate Certificate in AI in E-Commerce & Retail Marketing

For professionals seeking faster upskilling, UBI offers the Professional PG Certificate in Management of AI in E-Commerce and Retail Marketing, a five-month executive programme developed in collaboration with Publicis Commerce. This HyFlex-format programme (alternating weekend classes online or on campus) targets busy professionals in retail, marketing, and e-commerce. It focuses on high-impact topics such as:

  • AI-powered consumer insights
  • Personalisation strategies
  • AI in marketing and its ethics

Because the programme is co-designed with Publicis Commerce, participants gain exposure to the latest tools, case studies, and industry practices.

A key advantage: after completing the PG Certificate, participants can progress seamlessly to the Master’s by adding extra modules and a capstone project—reflecting UBI’s lifelong learning ethos.

Whether you’re aiming for a full transformation through the MSc or a targeted, executive-level boost with the PGCert, UBI Business School equips you with the skills to lead in the AI-driven future of retail.

Together, the MSc and PGCert reflect UBI’s commitment to bridging the gap between advanced technology and real business impact. In a retail world increasingly defined by AI, UBI is preparing professionals who won’t just keep up; they will shape the future of the industry.

AI and ML: From Niche Tools to Mainstream Drivers

In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have evolved from niche technological tools to pivotal engines of organisational transformation. No longer confined to the technology sector, AI and ML are now embedded in the very fabric of industries such as finance, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, retail, and even the creative economy.

According to McKinsey’s State of AI 2025 survey, 78% of organisations now report using AI in at least one business function, an increase from 72% in early 2024. Furthermore, 71% of executives confirm that they are already deploying generative AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude in day-to-day operations, from marketing copy generation to product design and strategic planning (McKinsey, 2025). This widespread adoption signals not only a technological shift but also a cultural one: AI is no longer perceived as an experimental tool, but as a core capability for competitiveness.

The rise of Hybrid roles and Skills

The impact is especially visible in the job market. Careers that barely existed three years ago (AI prompt engineers, AI ethics officers, AI innovation managers, and AI product strategists) are now among the fastest-growing positions in 2025 (The Economic Times, 2025). Crucially, these roles highlight a broader evolution: the market is no longer seeking purely technical experts or purely strategic thinkers. Instead, it demands professionals with hybrid skill sets, capable of navigating both technical complexity and business imperatives. Gartner (2025) reinforces this point, noting that “the organisations that thrive will not be those with the largest algorithm libraries, but those with leaders who can translate AI into business value, responsibly and strategically.”

Industry transformation due to AI

The transformation is evident across sectors. In finance, AI is streamlining fraud detection and algorithmic trading, while in healthcare it supports precision medicine and diagnostic imaging. Manufacturing benefits from predictive maintenance and AI-driven robotics, and in retail, personalised recommendation engines are reshaping customer engagement. Even the creative industries, once thought immune to automation, are embracing AI for content creation, design, and campaign testing, with human oversight ensuring ethical and cultural relevance.

Humans and AI: Collaborators, not Competitors

Importantly, AI is not replacing human work but redefining it. As The Economic Times (2025) observes, AI is emerging as a collaborator rather than a competitor, amplifying human efficiency, creativity, and decision-making. This reflects a paradigm shift from “AI versus humans” to “AI with humans.” The winners in this transformation will not simply be the companies with advanced technology, but the ones cultivating leaders and professionals who can embed AI into strategy, ethics, and human vision.

AI and Machine Learning at UBI Business School – Programmes for Future Leaders

This is precisely the mission of UBI’s portfolio in AI & Machine Learning. At UBI, we believe the future does not belong to those who simply “use AI”, but to those who can connect technology with strategy, ethics, and human insight. For that reason, we have created two complementary programmes designed not just to follow change, but to lead it.

Master in AI and Machine Learning (MSc)

The first is the Master in AI & Machine Learning. Delivered in Brussels or fully online, it is built on a HiFlex model recognised by EOCCS and QS, ensuring the same academic excellence wherever students are. The Master offers a comprehensive curriculum aligned with employer needs and complemented by Microsoft certifications and other professional credentials. Students work on real projects with European companies, building both practical experience and a professional network that extends across borders. With the flexibility to focus on ethics, strategy, data analytics, or entrepreneurship, participants gain the depth of expertise and leadership capacity required to drive organisational transformation. Graduates are prepared for roles such as AI project manager, business data analyst, digital transformation consultant, and innovation strategist, making them highly attractive to employers in Europe and beyond.

Professional Post-graduate Certificate in AI and Machine Learning

For professionals seeking a more focused, accelerated path, we also offers a Professional Postgraduate Certificate in AI & Machine Learning at UBI Business School. This five-month program is designed for executives and early- to mid-career professionals who want to upskill rapidly, acquiring targeted expertise without committing to a full Master’s degree. Delivered in the same HiFlex format, the Certificate concentrates on key themes such as AI strategy, data analytics, and ethical decision-making. It is particularly suited for professionals who need to integrate AI into their current roles quickly, ensuring immediate impact in their organisations while keeping flexibility in their career development.

Together, these two formats reflect UBI’s vision: to provide lifelong learning opportunities that respond to diverse professional needs. Whether through the in-depth journey of a Master’s or the fast-track expertise of a Professional Postgraduate Certificate, UBI equips its students with the knowledge, mindset, and network required to transform both their careers and their organisations.

In short, AI and ML are not simply technologies—they are reshaping the economy, redefining professions, and demanding a new generation of leaders who can connect innovation with strategy. UBI’s programmes offer exactly that: a bridge between technology and human vision. This is not just education. It is a transformative experience for those who want to shape the future of business through AI.

Upskilling, Reskilling and Long-Life Learning: A no-brainer in today’s world.
4c1
You’re in the early stages of your career. You’ve finished university or have your first years of professional experience, and you’re ready to move from theory to high-impact practice. You’re drawn to sectors like artificial intelligence, sustainability, demographic change, or the energy transition. You know the job market rewards those who combine strategic vision with technological fluency. The dilemma is clear: should you be content to progress slowly, or seek a boost that could place you in leadership roles before turning 30?
M Girl 1
Perhaps you already have several years of professional experience and have realised that the market is changing faster than ever—and that you’re not a digital native. You’re looking for a leap into senior management, a change of industry, or a deep upskilling to remain competitive. You’re in a moment of redefinition and asking yourself: how can I reposition myself to lead, not just manage, the digital transformation?

Or maybe you have years of leadership and experience. You’re not looking to start from scratch, but to reskill and continue leading with updated knowledge, strategic vision, and a renewed sense of purpose. You want to reconnect with the future to make better-informed, more relevant decisions, guide a data-driven transformation, or leave a renewed professional legacy. And you’re asking: how do I do this at my current career stage?

In today’s professional landscape, lifelong learning opens up a range of opportunities that are hard to ignore. Every professional, however, faces a different dilemma before leaping. switching to fast-growing sectors such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, or the energy transition; launching your own project with solid foundations; re-entering the job market after a career break; or transforming a traditional role into one ready to lead with data, automation, and strategic vision.

Evidence supports this need. A systematic review by  Babashahi et al. (2024) shows how Industry 4.0 and 5.0 technologies—AI, IoT, data analytics, edge computing—are driving changes in skill requirements at a pace that traditional education models cannot keep up with. To thrive in the digital era, organisations must foster continuous adaptation of both technical and soft skills, integrating proactive education with ethical technologies to effectively address AI-driven changes.  Lifelong learning is therefore not a “nice-to-have,” but a professional lifeline. A Harvard-led analysis (2025) reveals that the lifespan of skills has dropped from decades to just six years: what makes you competitive today could be obsolete in less than a decade. Upskilling, then, means much more than taking technical courses—it’s about developing adaptability, curiosity, and mental agility to navigate the unknown. We also know what works best. Lakhal and Khechine (2023) found that the most effective reskilling programs combine active learning methods, personalised feedback, and well-designed hybrid or online environments, exactly the characteristics of UBI’s high-quality professional postgraduate certificates that highlight lifelong learning of individuals.

The urgency is not only academic, but also economic. According to the Future of Jobs Report 2025, the transformation of the global labour market is staggering: by 2030, technological, economic, demographic, and sustainability trends are expected to create 170 million new roles while displacing 92 million, resulting in a net gain of 78 million jobs.  Deloitte adds that these strategies not only boost competitiveness but also increase revenues, reduce turnover, and give organisations greater agility—especially in sectors adopting AI and automation.

In short, continuous learning is no longer optional. For some, it will be the way to avoid being left behind; for others, the opportunity to start anew. Whether you aim to reskill or upskill to rise within your sector, reinvent yourself entirely, or carve your own path, lifelong learning is the engine that can take you there.

UBI’s Professional Postgraduate Certificates:

Look forward. Take control. Shape your future

In response to the growing need for flexible, high-quality, and up-to-date training pathways for working professionals, UBI Business School (also known as United Business Institute) is launching a suite of Professional Postgraduate Certificates for lifelong learning of individuals aimed at reskilling and upskilling in critical, forward-looking areas. These programmes are deeply rooted in the principles of lifelong learning and professional agility, offering a strategic response to the challenges and opportunities of the 21st-century economy.

These certificates benefit from UBI’s HyFlex Ecosystem—a flexible model that allows students to choose how and when they study: fully online, face-to-face, or in a hybrid format. This level of customisation empowers learners to adapt their studies to personal and professional demands while preserving academic depth and engagement.

The new programmes include seven specialised pathways which will be progressively deployed over the next 12 months. Currently available specialisations include  Management of Technology, Management of AI & Machine Learning Management (developed in collaboration with Microsoft), CRM and Marketing Cloud, and AI in E-Commerce and Retail Marketing (developed jointly with Publicis). Specializations in Business Transformation & Demographic Change, Sustainable Energy Transition, Digital Healthcare,  or ESG,  to be announced shortly, will ensure that the portfolio evolves alongside market trends. Each cohort is intentionally capped at 35 participants to foster dynamic, collaborative learning environments where individual attention and peer exchange thrive.

UBI’s academic approach is reinforced by optional international experiences at renowned institutions such as the London School of Economics, Babson College in the U.S., and Porto Business School, giving participants access to global perspectives and high-impact networks. Additionally, all certificate holders have the opportunity to upgrade to a full master’s degree by completing six further modules and a capstone project, allowing for progressive academic development in a logical and coordinated way.

On top if its accredited structure and content, UBI’s programmes are technologically enhanced through Alexandria, a dynamic,  purpose-built, adaptive learning platform on which UBI’s AI-Enhanced Learning is based on. This system personalises the learning experience by dynamically adapting to each user’s academic needs and personal preferences, contributing to an advanced, learner-centred pedagogical model.

UBI is a business school rated 5-star by QS, with leading 5-star indicators in the sub-categories of Teaching, Online learning, and Employability. UBI is also proud to hold the EOCCS accreditation by EFMD, a distinction awarded to only a selected group of institutions globally. This recognition guarantees the academic rigour, technological excellence, and student-centred approach of UBI’s digital learning ecosystem. EOCCS accreditation, combined with the HyFlex model, positions UBI’s Postgraduate Certificates as a world-class offer for professionals eager to lead change in their industries and communities.

These certificates are more than academic credentials; they are flexible, scalable solutions for professional reinvention in times of technological, social, and economic transformation. This is to allow our alumni to Look forward, take control and shape their future.
